by Jon Weisman

I'm watching tonight's Lost at the same time as the rest of you, so there won't be any immediate post at Season Pass. So feel free to chat here during and after the episode, and I'll let you know when there's something over there.

Remember, no spoilers, including scenes from upcoming episodes.

Update: My Season Pass post is live.

Another interesting episode. I am still having trouble wrapping my head around that ending. I don't ever want to be put in a position to root for Ben (he's just too much fun to hate). That ending doesn't necessarily mean that rooting for Ben will come to pass, but it certainly raises the possibility.

I didn't realize Sayid was a lefty.

I wonder where he learned to play golf.

My mind was sufficiently blown.

You mean you didn't think there were any lefthanded Iraqi golfers?

For some reason, the scene where Sayid's girlfriend shot him and then started speaking fluent German on the phone reminded me of Die Hard, when Hans Gruber thought he had McLain dead in the water, and started barking orders in German on his walkie talkie -- after speaking English exclusively -- before he realized his gun had no bullets.

Man I love Die Hard.

And, I realize the woman spoke German earlier -- the scene still reminded me of Die Hard!

Ben is shaping up to be one of the great villains in TV history.

Maybe it's because I watched this episode with a friend of mine who's never seen an episode of Lost before (she was feeling lonely on V-Day), but I didn't enjoy it as much as last week's (or the S4 premiere). I kept thinking of how weird it must have been to see that episode of all episodes first. And how it must have been a little unlikable to not know anything.

8 - This was not a good first episode for anyone. I definitely liked this one more than last week's, and everyone loved last week's from what I can tell.

10 Though I enjoyed last week's better, I thought this week's was stronger. Last week's was a bit fractured. I think if I watched it alone (or with my roommate who's also seen every episode), I would have enjoyed it better.

If you got rid of every scene where Jack, Kate, or Sawyer interact, I would like this show so much more. Those characters are just such awful cliches, and they stick out even more because every other character is so interesting and defined much more subtly.

12 - I think they've broken past the cliche part of those characters. I personally find Kate a bit dull, but their stories, especially Jack and Sawyer's stories, are too complex to be called cliches. I thought the Sawyer-Kate scene last night was excellent.

13. I have yet to see anything from Sawyer or Jack that is that interesting, although, they are more tolerable when they are not with Kate. Personally, the Sawyer-Kate scene kept this episode from being my favorite since the "pointless" van episode last season.
