Lost Season Premiere Chat
2008-01-31 16:42
by Jon Weisman

If you're like me, you're feeling the excitement about tonight's Lost season premiere. I watched the episode two nights ago, and I'm still excited to chat about it.

So here's the game plan for tonight.

1) If you want to talk about Lost before or during the episode, do so in the comments below.

2) For more Lost chat after the episode, I ask that you go to the Variety blog Season Pass, where there will be a new post right at 10 p.m.

Ground rules: No chatting about anything that hasn't been seen by West Coast viewers, and no spoilers. That includes not talking about scenes from next week's episode.

Have fun …

Mixed feelings, I have.

Two commenters suggest TIVO/DVR, but I don't have either. And I'll be darned if I buy it through iTunes.

Hey! Where'd my comment go?

Question: was last night's season 3 finale redux worth watching before tonight's season 4 premiere?

I was sick last night and recorded the show, but I'm likely to skip it if it's not imperative or recommended to watch before tonight's festivities.

No, you don't need to watch that episode. Just plunge right in. I didn't watch it intently.

Oh, I'll watch and enjoy it; it's just the set time aspect that bugs me, for some reason.

is the first hour a clip show or a real new episode?

Linkmeister, get a DVR. You'll be saying things like the Fanerman quote on the Dodger Thoughts sidebar.

8 - First hour is a clip show. 9 p.m. for the new stuff.

So them promoting a two-hour premiere is pretty much nonsense.
2008-01-31 19:17:28

They cleverly use the word "event." It's not a 2-hour premiere. It's a 2-hour premiere "event."

I loved the replay episode from last night. They really helped by pointing out some easter eggs and symbolism/imagery from other novels and movies. I thought it was worth watching, and it has me completely psyched for watching it tonight. I will not be chatting during the show, since I start it 40 minutes in with the DVR, and there is no way I will want to stop and type during the show.

Last nights episode was excellent.

Darn it! For some reason I thought this was a 2-hr season opener. Got it confused with the 2 hr season finale that repeated last night. Ah well. Eli Stone looks like it could be a lot of fun - or incredibly annoying. What's with Jonny Lee Miller acting all American all of a sudden.

Anyway, enjoy getting"Lost," all!

This has been one of the slowest hours of my life...everyone who is watching with me is mad because I keep finishing the actors lines.

Commercial thoughts... I hope Vantage Point is good. I could see it being very clever or very cluttered.

OT: The "Eli Stone" previews are not in HD. Why is any new show not in HD? The show does not look good to me, at all, but they may have had a shot at my viewership if it was in HD.

18 If this episode of Lost was not in HD would you watch it?

I still think "Lost" should end its run with the cast waking up in Dr. Bob Hartley's bed.

(Although they'd have to do it without Suzanne Pleshette, alas.)

Yes, but I gave it a chance. I have no intention of giving Eli Stone a chance. George Michael singing on a coffee table? I'll spend my view hours elsewhere.

HA, I agree with you. I love HD television just as much as anyone. Although, I do not believe it should dictate what you watch.

Btw, Matthew Fox with a beard just doesn't work. He looks like that "Wooly Willy" guy from those magnetic toys.

Here we go everyone, just a few moments now. I wish the episode to be thrilling and exciting. I wish this episode to answer a question and leave us with 6 new ones, in true Lost fashion. Best viewing everyone!

Whoever was in the coffen is probably number 4. So maybe the Oceanic 6 turned into 5 pretty fast.

sorry coffin.
2008-01-31 21:18:46
29.   ibleedbloo
27 I would guess you are right...but, the Oceanic 6 seem to be "celebrities", I would think someone would have shown up to a "celebrity's" funeral.

One of them (Sawyer?) may be who Kate has to get back to.

I like where you are going, but 3 seasons is a long time. We could be way off.

Jacob's house? Did Jacob hate all light, or just technology i.e. flashlights?

Now that you say that, it did kind of look like it. Although, Hurley sees things, so it might have been nothing.

I'm glad Charlie isn't completly off the show.

Wait. How is Charlie both dead and alive? I mean - he's imaginary - but that other crazy guy with Hurley saw him, too. Or am I missing something?
2008-01-31 21:48:14
39.   kngoworld
Maybe Hurley imagined the guy who pointed out Charlie.

I think we just saw the point where Jack "loses it". Good Jack would have never had pulled the trigger.

41.   underdog
Hm. Maybe, or just imagined the conversation with him. I have a feeling I'm not the only Lost-ie who'll ask that question tonight, though. They obviously did that on purpose. But I'm not sure it actually means anything.

Jack told Kate he would kill Locke when he saw him next. He only lived up to his word, or tried to.

Just read Jon's article over at Season Pass. Well, if his brother-in-law liked Eli Stone that much, maybe I should give it a chance, even if its not in HD.
2008-01-31 21:51:58
44.   kngoworld
41 Oh, I truely believe Hurley imagined the conversation with Charlie... and the guy who pointed it out.
2008-01-31 21:59:05
45.   kngoworld
23 Hurley just repeated what you already said, "you look wierd with a beard, Jack."

Eli Stone is in HD. Why not put the previews in HD. I'm giving it a shot.
